Winter Weddings
A Warm Welcome, Whatever the Weather
Our barns come into their own in the colder months. Exposes beams, warm lighting, and an all-in-one setting make Cooling Castle Barn a genuinely atmospheric choice for a winter celebration, and our team knows exactly how to make the day feel welcoming from the moment your guests arrive.
Christmas Wedding Magic
There’s something genuinely magical about a Christmas wedding here.
Every year, our team spends three full days transforming the venue into a proper winter wonderland: twinkling lights, evergreen wreaths, and towering Christmas trees throughout the barns.
Because it takes so long to put together, we keep our festive décor in place for the whole of December rather than changing it for each wedding, so choosing a December date means your day automatically becomes part of that seasonal magic.
Styling & Atmosphere for a Winter Celebration
Layered, warm lighting is the key to a beautiful winter wedding.
We’d suggest starting with an overall glow across the barn, then highlighting your ceremony backdrop, top table, bar and dancefloor so the space feels intentional after dark.
Candles, lanterns, and metallic or glass details all catch the light beautifully in our barns, and our team is on hand to help you plan styling that works well once the sun goes down.
Why Choose a Winter Wedding?
Winter dates, particularly October to March outside December, are one of the best ways to enjoy everything we offer at a lower price point.
You’ll still receive the same full package: your ceremony, wedding breakfast, evening celebration, and an overnight stay in the master suite, in a barn setting that feels especially cosy once the nights draw in.
Winter Wedding Prices at a Glance
October to March pricing, outside December, starts from £7,800 for a Monday to Thursday wedding, with our full range of days and packages set out on our Wedding Venue Prices page.
December dates carry a small premium to reflect the festive transformation of the venue, with additional day guests charged at £85.00 per guest.
Winter Weddings - FAQs
Do we need to bring our own Christmas decorations?
Not for a December wedding, and some November weddings. Our team decorates every barn for Christmas, and the decorations are included in your package. The decorations are already in place when you arrive and stay as they are, so we can’t change their style or colours to match your theme. We’ll let you know what they’ll look like closer to your date. You’re very welcome to add your own table styling to complement them.
For weddings in other winter months, there are no Christmas decorations. You’re welcome to bring your own seasonal styling, following our decoration guidelines.
Is the venue warm enough for a winter wedding?
Yes. Our barns are heated, so you and your guests stay warm and comfortable from the ceremony to the last dance. And because everything happens on one site, nobody has to go back out in the cold during the day. Your guests can even stay over in our en-suite bedrooms.
Can we still have an outdoor ceremony in winter?
Yes, if the weather is kind. Our Pavilion is licensed for ceremonies all year round, and a crisp, bright winter day can make for beautiful photographs. Wrap up warm, and consider blankets or pashminas for your guests. If it’s too cold or wet, our Fathom Barn is a beautiful indoor alternative. You and your coordinator decide together on the morning of your wedding.
Do winter weddings cost less than summer weddings?
Yes, often by several thousand pounds. For example, a 2028 Traditional wedding on a Monday to Wednesday costs £8,900 in January or February, compared with £11,200 from May to August. A Saturday costs £12,500 in January or February, compared with £18,100 in summer. March and November are also good value. December is priced in the same band as spring and autumn, and the venue is fully decorated for Christmas.
